Open Call for Fall 2025 Artist-in-Residence Applications
Redwood National and State Parks is pleased to announce the opening of the submission window for the Fall 2025 Artist-in-Residence Program, inviting artists of all disciplines to apply for a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring landscapes of the ancient redwood forest. The submission window will be open May 15–30, 2025, or until 25 complete applications have been received—whichever comes first.
This unique residency, coordinated by the National Park Service, California State Parks, and Redwood Parks Conservancy, offers selected artists the chance to live and work within the park from August 15 to September 15, 2025. Participants will have access to the park’s diverse ecosystems and cultural heritage sites as inspiration for their creative work. The program fosters artistic exploration while also promoting public engagement and a deeper understanding of the park’s natural and historical significance.
Artists of all disciplines—including writers, sculptors, photographers, painters, dancers, cinematographers, musicians, composers, and other visual and performing artists—are encouraged to apply. The program provides access to the parks’ dynamic natural and cultural environments, giving artists the time, space, and inspiration to create original work that reflects the park’s unique sense of place.
Selected artists will receive a stipend of up to $5,000 to assist with travel, materials, and other logistical needs. Half of the stipend will be awarded upon arrival at Redwood National and State Parks; the remaining halfwill be awarded upon receipt of the donated artwork, due by March 1, 2026, to the Redwood Parks Conservancy.
During the residency, artists will have time to pursue their craft while also connecting with park staff, landscapes, and visitors. As part of the program, each artist is expected to offer at least one public presentation, helping to inspire future generations of artists and park stewards to see these lands from fresh and meaningful perspectives.
The selected artist will be announced June 15, 2025.
